Life after graduation includes the world of work and community responsibilities. A feature of students’ learning experience at CSSS is to develop qualities that shape them in becoming contributing members of society. Upon graduation, students are expected to devote at least 30 hours of community service, and to reflect on what they learned while volunteering. Through community involvement, students gain employability skills, build self confidence, and develop empathy.
CSSS provides students with volunteer opportunities that support their career and social development. In the past, CSSS students have made meaningful contributions to both Pinegrove Place and Corporate Champions Vancouver.
This year, Canada Star is partnering with different organizations around the community to continue providing students with valuable work experiences:
- Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site
- Gulf of Georgia Cannery
- City Centre Community Centre
